Museums and Galleries
Greenville Museum of ArtFeatures changing exhibits from its permanent collection of 19th- and 20th-century American landscapes, as well as traveling regional and national exhibits.
- The museum is home to the Francis Speight & Sarah Blakeslee, Kenneth Noland, South, Look and Learn and Common Galleries. The museum also owns one of the largest public collections of North Carolina Jugtown Pottery. The following exhibitions will be held through 2005:

Emerge Gallery is an artist-and-student managed art center that offers rotating contemporary art exhibits, an eclectic sales gallery, studio spaces, children's movies and art activities and performances. The gallery has been a key player in the revitalization of downtown Greenville.

Located in the Jenkins Fine Arts Center on the East Carolina University campus, the gallery features nationally and internationally known contemporary artists and rotating exhibits by students and faculty. The following exhibits will be on display through 2006:

- The gallery is off Fifth Street on the ECU campus. Hours are from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays, with extended hours until 8 p.m. Thursdays. - Exhibits work by national and North Carolina artists, in addition to East Carolina University staff and faculty. The gallery is inside the Mendenhall Student Center on the ECU campus. Hours are from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday, noon-2 a.m. Saturday and noon-11 p.m. Sunday. Summer hours are from 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-10 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. - The village has 19 buildings that feature more than 1,000 antique artifacts from 1840-1940 and depicts the life in Pitt County and eastern North Carolina during that period. The village is off of N.C. 264, on the Pitt County Fairgrounds. Open by appointment only. Call the Greenville-Pitt County Convention & Visitors Bureau at 329-4200.
- A commercial fine-arts space that features works by established local, regional and national artists and craftspeople. Each month, the gallery has a special showing of one or more artists, including an exhibition and opening reception. The gallery is at 505 Red Banks Road. - A commercial fine-arts gallery that features works by established local and regional artists and craftspeople. Galleria Locale is at 409 S. Evans St. Call 353-ARTS.
- With more than 1,500 artifacts donated by more than 100 people, the story of the town of Winterville is told. By appointment only. Call 321-2660.

- The general-history museum of Farmville and western Pitt County. The museum is located at 213 S. Main St. Open from noon-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Group tours are available anytime with prior appointment. Call 753-5814
- Works by various artists on view. Open from noon-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 3-5 p.m. Friday. Closed on Fridays during June and July. The center is at 111 N. Main St. Call 753-3832.
- Displays tobacco- and farming-related exhibits from the early 1900s. The museum is at 202 Creekshore Drive (the Grifton Civic Center), Grifton. Open during the Grifton Shad Festival in mid-April, and by appointment. Call 524-4708.
